Do you accept pets? / What is your pet policy?

Yes! We have designated K9 rooms for guests with furry friends.

Can I see the lake from my room?

Yes! As we are located directly on Lake Superior’s shoreline, each of our spacious rooms has an unobstructed view of the water. Our waterfront annex rooms have sliding glass doors that open right onto the beach while our lakeview buildings are set back on the lawn. Each room has a bay window that overlooks a boardwalk. 

Are you open all year long?

The King Copper Waterfront Motel is open from May through mid-October. You may book anytime during the year via our online booking or by phone. 

How far is the motel from the airport?

Copper Harbor is about 40 miles north of Houghton County Memorial Airport (CMX). To get here, just head north on US41 and stay on that road until you reach the end! For detailed directions, click here.

Are you located near the Isle Royale Ferry?

King Copper Waterfront Motel is located directly next door to the Isle Royale Ferry! We have many guests who stay with us and make the trip to the island the next day. Ferry parking is conveniently located across the street from us. For more information, visit www.isleroyale.com.

Our Policies

Check in: 3pm Check out: 11am

Reservation policy:

A 50% deposit is required to hold your reservation. Final payment is due 48 hrs prior to check-in; your final payment will be automatically billed 72 hours prior to check-in for your convenience on the card you provided for the deposit. If you would like a different card to be billed for the second payment, it will need to be provided before the 72 hours autobill date. If a different card is required to be used at check-in a 6% processing fee will be charged on the transaction. If final payment is not made 48 hrs prior to check-in, your reservation will be cancelled and you will forfeit the cost of the reservation.

Cancellation Policy:

Up to two weeks (14 days) prior to your check-in, you can cancel your room by emailing and receiving a cancellation confirmation. A message left on our voice mail DOES NOT cancel your room. With less than 14 days notice, you will lose the full amount of your reservation total.
When cancelling up to 14 days prior to your reservation, you will receive your deposit back minus a minimum $20 processing fee or 6% percent of your deposit. When cancelling within 14 days prior, your credit card on file will be billed for the remaining required payment for the reservation.

Smoking:

All our rooms are non-smoking including candles or incense. King Copper Motel is a marijuana free property. Guests choosing to smoke marijuana are required to do so off of motel grounds. When smoking outdoors please be courteous of other guests and open windows. If you smoke (including candles and incense) in your room there will be a $250 cleaning charge.

Pets:

We have designated pet-friendly rooms for an additional $50 per night/pet with a maximum of two pets or a maximum total weight of 80 lbs.

-If your pet causes any damage to any part of the room including, but not limited to: carpets, beds, furniture there will be a $500 charge to your card on file.
-If you take a pet into a non-pet room there will be a $500 charge. If you break the 80 lbs. total or two pet maximum, a $500 charge will be applied.
-Pets are not allowed on the beds or furniture.
-Clipping or brushing is not allowed in the rooms.
-If dog urine, dog waste, clipping, or trimmings are found in the room, or there is evidence of pets on the bed or furniture, it will result in an extra cleaning charge of $100. If replacement is required of any damaged item as a result, the $500 damage charge will be assessed.
-Pets are to be leashed at all times on a maximum 6′ leash and NOT to be left alone in the room or on the property.
-Excessive barking of pets will not be tolerated. Pets which are aggressive or unfriendly to other guests are not welcome.
-Pets are to be walked in the designated pet walk area and are to be cleaned up after.
-Excessive barking of a pet, barking during the night, or failure to follow the pet rules may result in cancellation of your remaining reservation and requirement to leave the property.

Communications:

We offer phone use and free calling in our two offices and you are welcome to give our phone number as a contact point. Cellphone coverage in Copper Harbor is not available. We offer complimentary WiFi so WiFi calling can be used on your phone. To set up your phone for WiFi calling, please google WiFi calling for instructions.

Complimentary coffee is ready at 6:30AM each morning next to the offices. A microwave is available in the waterfront office for your use from 6:30AM until 9PM.

NOTICE TO GUESTS: This property is privately owned and management reserves the right to refuse anyone, and will not be responsible for accidents, damages to personal property or vehicles, or injury to guests or for loss of money, jewelry, or valuables of any kind.

Lost Items: Personal items found on motel property will be held for 14 days. Guests wishing to retrieve items may create a UPS shipping label and have it emailed to . Unclaimed items will be donated or discarded after 14 days. King Copper Motel is in no way responsible for lost or forgotten items of any kind.
